How it works

Three taps from paper to PDF

No more renaming scans or hunting for the right receipt when it's time to claim.

1

Scan

Hold your iPhone over a receipt. The scanner finds its edges and straightens it for you.

2

Check

The date, company and type of expense are filled in. Anything ExpensePDF isn't sure about is highlighted, so you only check what needs checking.

Send one PDF or a whole month of receipts to Google Drive, Files, email or any other app, with their names kept.

Clearly named files

Every PDF names itself

Each receipt is named by date, type of expense and company, so it's easy to find in any folder and ready for your accountant.

  • Date first, as day, month and year: 171026 is 17 October 2026.
  • Ten types of expense, from Meals and Travel to Software and Client Entertainment.
  • Change a detail and the PDF is renamed to match.

Smart reading

It reads receipts so you don't have to

Everything is read on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded to do it, and it works without a connection.

Knows the names

Recognises well-known businesses, and reads company names from the websites and email addresses printed on receipts.

Learns your habits

Remembers the type of expense you chose for each company, so the next receipt from them is right first time.

A second opinion

On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device model double-checks what was read. It isn't needed, though.

Small, document-style PDFs

Clean black and white, around 120 KB

Shadows are removed and the text is darkened into a crisp document, so receipts stay readable and small enough to email a month's worth at once.

  • The photo, PDF and details for each receipt are in one place.
  • Receipts are grouped by month and easy to search.
  • Share one, or select a batch and share them all.
